Shweta and Akshay- A Stylized Session

It's been a while since this session, but I've just been so busy and not had time to post it. I was so lucky to partner up with the wonderful Jalisse from Jalisse Photography and brainstorm this sweet couples session. We had the perfect light, a beautiful location, and a gorgeous couple! Jalisse was so much fun to work with, and together I think we brought our vision to life.

Brooke: A Birth Story

8/2/2015

One thing that I regret being a mom, is having the birth of my two children documented. During labour, it is such a whirlwind of emotions: pain, excitement, fear and joy. With all of the hormones and fleeting moments, we forget quickly how it all went down. Sure, we may remember bits and pieces of the story, but it's the little details that birth photography captures, to bring the amazing story together.
It's no secret that a woman's body is capable of tremendous things, and the miracle of childbirth will always be a testament to that.
When Megan agreed to let me be a part of her baby girls journey into the world, I was beyond excited. Sure, I was anxious and hesitant, as I remember how much pain I was in during my two labours, and wondered if she would decide in the end that she didn't want me there!
As Megan's due date came and went, I slept with my phone right next to my pillow- waiting for that call that it was "time".
On Wednesday, July 29th at 8:16pm, I checked in with Megan to see how she was doing. She told me she was on her way to the hospital, as she had been having contractions for the last hour. She told me she still "wasn't convinced it was labour". I had to laugh, as I remember thinking that with my labour too. I was then instructed to text Corey, as the contractions were starting to get painful. I spoke with Corey at 8:45pm, who told me that Megan was at 4cm. He said maybe I should head over and just have a seat in the waiting room.
That was a great idea- I would grab a coffee at Tim Hortons, and slowly make my way to the Hospital to hang out until I was needed.
I arrived at the hospital at 9:10pm, and was about to sit down and have my coffee when Corey came down the hall. He was moving quickly, and I had a sudden moment of panic! Was I missing the birth? I immediately followed him into room 125, and began documenting the details around me, as Megan's labour progressed. Seem's that I had gotten there just in time.
This is her Birth Story:
A huge thank you to Megan and Corey, for trusting me to capture these once in a lifetime images, as well as the midwife, doctors and nurses at the High River Hospital Maternity/Obstetrics ward.
