It's been a while since this session, but I've just been so busy and not had time to post it. I was so lucky to partner up with the wonderful Jalisse from Jalisse Photography and brainstorm this sweet couples session. We had the perfect light, a beautiful location, and a gorgeous couple! Jalisse was so much fun to work with, and together I think we brought our vision to life.

One thing that I regret being a mom, is having the birth of my two children documented. During labour, it is such a whirlwind of emotions: pain, excitement, fear and joy. With all of the hormones and fleeting moments, we forget quickly how it all went down. Sure, we may remember bits and pieces of the story, but it's the little details that birth photography captures, to bring the amazing story together. It's no secret that a woman's body is capable of tremendous things, and the miracle of childbirth will always be a testament to that. When Megan agreed to let me be a part of her baby girls journey into the world, I was beyond excited. Sure, I was anxious and hesitant, as I remember how much pain I was in during my two labours, and wondered if she would decide in the end that she didn't want me there! As Megan's due date came and went, I slept with my phone right next to my pillow- waiting for that call that it was "time". On Wednesday, July 29th at 8:16pm, I checked in with Megan to see how she was doing. She told me she was on her way to the hospital, as she had been having contractions for the last hour. She told me she still "wasn't convinced it was labour". I had to laugh, as I remember thinking that with my labour too. I was then instructed to text Corey, as the contractions were starting to get painful. I spoke with Corey at 8:45pm, who told me that Megan was at 4cm. He said maybe I should head over and just have a seat in the waiting room. That was a great idea- I would grab a coffee at Tim Hortons, and slowly make my way to the Hospital to hang out until I was needed. I arrived at the hospital at 9:10pm, and was about to sit down and have my coffee when Corey came down the hall. He was moving quickly, and I had a sudden moment of panic! Was I missing the birth? I immediately followed him into room 125, and began documenting the details around me, as Megan's labour progressed. Seem's that I had gotten there just in time. This is her Birth Story: A huge thank you to Megan and Corey, for trusting me to capture these once in a lifetime images, as well as the midwife, doctors and nurses at the High River Hospital Maternity/Obstetrics ward.
There’s nothing sweeter to me than capturing newborns within the first few weeks of life. They are so fresh and pure, and love to be snuggled up in the same positions they would’ve been in mommy’s tummy. I find as long as they are fed, warm and relaxed, they are happy and I can get the sweet sleepy poses. Prentyce was no exception! At two weeks new, she rocked her session and slept the entire time: even giving us some cheeky little grins and pouty lips, as we posed her and snapped away!
Welcome to the World, sweet Prentyce! ~14 days New~ Two things I LOVE in life (Okay, well there's many things I love in life, but these two are up there): Photography and Horses.
Put those two things together, and I am a super happy camper! All I ever wanted growing up was a horse. Like most little girls, that's all I ever asked for at Christmas, Birthdays, Easter, on Weekends, Week Days....okay you get the point I'm sure. Anyways, I finally bought my own horse when I was 21 and I started out in photography taking reference photos of my horse and other peoples for my paintings. This growing passion soon evolved into where I am now with my photography. Whenever clients ask me to take photos of them with their horses, I get super giddy! I even made a package available for this type of thing, called "Hoof Beats and Paw Prints." It gives us a chance to celebrate those four legged family members that give us so much in life. They are our confidants, our shoulder to cry on and they will never ever judge us- How great is that? And how beautiful is this little family of four? Meet Tammy, Tim, Gypsy and Dee :) Country. Western. Rustic. I always get super excited when this 'style' is involved in a session. It's soooooo MY style! I had the absolute pleasure of photographing Bailey and Chris' engagement session at their friends farm a couple of weeks ago. I think we were truly able to capture their easy going, fun loving country lifestyle- and most importantly, the incredible bond that they share with one another! Bailey had previously 'warned' me (haha) that Chris is not a smiler in photographs. A challenge I was most definitely willing to meet! Although I think the serious model look really works for him, his smile sure is pretty great too! (And we got way more smiles than I think even Bailey was aware) Without further adieu, here is the Gorgeous Bailey and Handsome-Groom-To-Be Chris! Congratulations you two. Thanks for allowing me to be a part of your journey :) Finally getting caught up on editing client galleries (Yay!). This family is seriously adorable. Maddie and Hudson are two well behaved little people, and I had so much fun working with them on their mommas maternity session :)
Turns out I'm a bit late getting their photos off to them, as wee Spencer was born this morning! (9 days early!) Regardless, I am in love with the sweetness of this session- from the warm autumn colours, to the obvious love this family shares- and I want to share it with everyone! Spencer truly is a lucky little guy to be born into a family so full of love <3 I've come to realize all too well that our babies grow up fast- too fast! From watching my own baby go from a newborn to a toddler, that first year is such a blur. It's full of learning, milestones and incredible development both physically and mentally. I recently posted a video to my Facebook page that talks about how important it is to 'exist' in photos as a mom/parent of young children. How many times do you upload photos you've taken to Facebook only to realize that you're missing? I have put together a "watch me grow" photography session that covers the first year of your baby (and family's) life. These sessions will include newborn photos, 6 month photos and 1 year photos (all sessions will include immediate family members as well). This package has over $900.00 worth of photography services for $650.00! Payment plans are available for these sessions as well! Send me off an email today and ask me how you can book your "watch me grow" photography package! I had the pleasure of photographing the Barrett Family a little while ago with their son Carter. All of my clients mean so much to me as they let me into their lives, but Carter holds a special place in my heart. He was one of the sweetest little guys I've ever met- full of smiles and laughs.
No parent ever wants to imagine their baby having to endure hardships of any kind, especially undergoing multiple surgeries. Carter was born with what his mom told me is a bilateral cleft lip and palate, in which he will be having multiple surgeries to repair. At 4 months old, this little man was such a testament to how innocent and pure babies are. They don't know judgement or ignorance, only joy, happiness and love. The images we captured from this session display the love this family shares, and I am so excited to share them. I ask that you all keep Carter in your thoughts and prayers as he undergoes his first surgery. Braylee, Ryan and Carter, you are truly remarkable people. I thank you with all my heart for letting me be a part of your journey with you. |
